About

Hardy Hall Restorations was founded in 1999 by Jonathan Hall following a fifteen year career building, preparing and running both modern and historic sports and racing cars. In the late eighties he spent three years working for Martin Schanche in the World Sports Prototype Championship including the obligatory stints at Le Mans. Prior to this, in 1985, he worked as a mechanic on Mauricio Gugelmin’s F3 Ralt at West Surrey Racing in the inaugural year of flat bottom regulations. Mauricio, who then lived with the late Ayrton Senna, won the British F3 Championship and the Macau Grand Prix that year.

In 1994 Jonathan restored, prepared and ran the March 712 in which Martin Stretton convincingly won the European Historic F2 Championship. The following year, under the watchful eye of the early Tyrrell designer, Derek Gardner, Jonathan restored, prepared and ran the 1972-73 ex Jackie Stewart Tyrrell 005 in which Martin Stretton won the 1995 Historic F1 Championship – the FIA Cup for Thoroughbred Grand Prix Cars. During his sojourn at Martin Stretton Racing Jonathan was responsible for restoring and preparing some mouth watering machinery from Cooper, BRM and Lotus through to the Italian exotica of Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Maserati. This culminated with Jonathan restoring and preparing the ex-Ronnie Peterson Tyrrell P.34/6, the famous six wheeler from 1977.

Since then Hardy Hall Restorations have worked on a huge variety of historic cars. These vary from the pre-War cars of Amilcar, Bugatti, G.N., Frazer Nash and Riley to the fifties and sixties sports and racing cars of Brabham, Cooper, Elva, Kieft, March, Lola, Lotus, Merlyn and McLaren. We have also supplied bespoke parts for Voisin, Talbot, Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin and Chevron. Whilst the restoration and preparation of historic sports and racing cars remains our core business we also undertake the preperation of some more modern racing cars for local customers who compete in sprint and hillclimb championships, as well as the servicing and tuning of some interesting road cars.

Hardy Hall Restorations are ultimately dedicated to getting the job right, be it large or small. This means the job only needs to be done once but incorporates the built-in reliability that allows you to enjoy good service from your car in your chosen field of motor sport.
